Do you mean a residential school that you send your dog to and they train it for you? If so, then I’m sorry to say this but most trainers and behaviourists do not recommend this type of training for dogs. Generally the finding are very negative, and the dog once trained by the trainers on site will not behave the same at home. There has also been some every bad reports about cruelty cases in these residential schools and the training methods are often very harsh – you would be shocked at the various reports on these types of places. I have heard of some dogs coming back nervous wrecks and others highly defensive.
All that being said, I don’t know of any dog schools here in Scotland (there are some in England though).I would stick with the classes and possible get him involved in some other type of work, like agility (there’s lots of good agility training providers in Scotland).
Good luck hope you find a solution.
PS. Have you tried clicker training – I have heard alot of people sing it’s praises. Maybe worth looking into.
