I got a puppy, but I’m not sure how to act with it…?

(it’s a border collie cross with labrador if that makes any differencre). She is a well behaved dog most of the time, but sometimes she gets too excited and starts jumping on people and playfully biting them. Whne told to stop, she ignores everyone’s attempts to stop her and plays on. I try to act strick and punish her by locking her up in a room for like 5 min for a timeout…sometimes she calms down, sometimes she doesnt…i’m planning to take obedience courses, but i’m afraid that may be she’s gonna be an aggressive dog when ahe grows up… How do I effectively punish her an still be respected and loved by her?

A leash works better.
Keep her on a leash, tied to you. When she gets rambunctious and out of control use the leash to correct her. Pull her away from the action and make her sit.
Everything stops until she sits, then let her up and encourage calm interaction.
NOTE:
This is a VERY high energy puppy. She needs time to run around and be rambunctious where she can’t get hurt or annoy anyone. Please, please, please provide lots of exercise.
A tired puppy is a well behaved puppy.
Your instinct to take classes is a good one. Don’t put it off much longer because she is getting older and training becomes more difficult the older that she gets. Also, when you see her misbehave remember that she is a baby! Keep me posted on your progress.
Firstly, a 5 min time out is extreme, imo. Do some basic training with her, preferably using a clicker. This is a high energy dog……needs plenty of exercise, but also plenty of training. Rather than tell her off, give her something else to do, such as a Sit…..once she knows what that is. Lure her into the Sit with a treat, click and treat. Same with the down. You can teach just about anything with treats. You don’t necessarily have to use a clicker, but it’s fun and easy. Do a google on clicker training. She won’t be aggressive…..she just doesn’t know any better. But start training now. As Karen Pryor said……buy a clicker and just have fun!!!
