I know this question has been asked a numerous amount of times, but I need help on housebreaking my dog.?

It’s been raining a lot lately in my area, and my Cody doesn’t seem to want to pee or poop it the wet grass. He’s only a puppy, and he’s never had to do it, so it’s all new to him. I let him out in the backyard for 10 minutes, and then I let him back in. Less than 10 minutes later, I find pee and poop on the living room carpet. It’s really stressing me out. I’ve taken a potty training class at Petsmart, and that helped just a little. We have crate trained him, but strangely, he can get out of the crate even if its locked. My parents are stressing out about this too, and they said that if he’s not housebroken we can’t keep Cody, and that would break my heart. So if there any suggestions at all please list them!!! Thank you soooo much I really appreciate it.

When you walk your dog, first take him to a designated potty-place. Use a command like “Do your business!” If he goes, praise him and give him a treat, then take him for a walk. If he doesn’t, take him back inside, put him in his crate, and try again in half an hour. Walk him every hour on the hour.

You can’t just let him out and assume he’ll learn to go outside. He’ll just learn to go anywhere he wants.

if he is going in a specific place, what i would do is place a dog potty mat on where he is going, then when he goes on it, move the mat. most likely he will follow the mat. then over time, lead it towards the door. it worked for my dogs

So, it’s just the rain he hates?

Maybe pitch a tent or some other shelter for him to go in?
If you set something right next to the door, and keep it super clean, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Puppy pads in the bathroom might be a solution.

If you insist he go out in the rain, practice.
Bundle up and take him out on a leash. Play with him and make rain seem like no big deal.
    Eventually, he’ll start ignoring rain.

During the process of house breaking a dog, you should not be letting the dog into the yard independently. You need to walk him on a leash, either in your yard or in the neighborhood, so you can enforce the training. If you are not there to praise and reward him for going outside, as he does it, he has no incentive to do so. Don’t send him out on his own until he is completely house broken.

try taking him out under an umberella. or build a small place with a roof just for him to use as his bathroom. place puppy pads where he seems to go when outside. then transfer these outside where you want him to go.

Heres what you do . Stay out in yard with your dog for a while then go inside with the dog.Take a crap in the floor then beat the hell out yourself. The dog will most likely get the message!!!!!!

Hi i know this will sound dumb but with my lab i took him out on a leash in the yard and repeatedly told him go pee go poop every time we got out the same thing over and over you should stay out until he does and praise hime after and i currently own a 3 months old lab also and i`m doing the same thing i did with my first dog and she goes out and even ask to go out and it`s been very effective and i only had her for 2 weeks now and she also sleeps in a crate and does wonderfull and another tip to dont leave water out just give him some evry hour and when he can controll himself better put the water dish back full time dog trainning to go out takes time and patience it will get easier if you give this method a try.good luck hope this helps.
