mika is my dog’s name:) good choice, but i think a lot of people might mistake him for a boy with that name. my first dog’s name was max, too lol

i like rusty. i read in an article that dogs respond best to two syllable names and that fits. i like ripley for a male dog, but i think rusty would fit him good since he’s darker.

El Dorado or Eldorado (Spanish for ‘the gilded one’) is a legend that began with the story of a tribal chief who covered himself with gold dust and would dive into a lake of pure mountain water.

    I like Cody and Mike.

Paz sounds bizarre to me, Bronco sounds crazy, Mika I just don’t like, Rusty is okay, Henry doesn’t fit a Golden in my opinion, Alex is okay, and alot of dogs have the name Sam.

I also like the name Trevor and Adam, too. I don’t know if you like them but you said any other suggestions! Good luck! And also, after about a week you can start to judge the personality of your puppy. Don’t get so paranoid about giving him a name, just use what comes to mind!

I like Sam for a golden. It sounds so pal-like, which is what these dogs are.

Just please don’t name him Air Bud. hehe.

We just got a Boston Terrier and named him Carlton. Love the distinguished names because they’re fun to say…..have you thought of something English and comical, like Livingston, or Winston?

Cody…really nice name! Second choice is bronco if he is going to be a big dog. I don’t like Henry, Mike, Alex or Sam… too human. maybe you can find a name that has special meaning to you, like I did: This might sound silly to you but I named my cat after my grandchildren. (They are 12 & 10) Their initials are K & C, thus “K.C.” is her name. We spell it out for the vet: it is Kacey. Good luck. Maybe your dog does something special you want to name him. I have another cat named Scooter because that’s all he does is scoot all over the place. Just don’t name him what my X-husband named a cat we had for 8 years – “Temporary”. Yeah, well, guess who was temporary – him! LOL

    Mika, Cody, Sam

I really really like these 3 names, Mika is cool but not very grrrrr, very very cute.

I think Jedi is a cool name.

  20. 20 finch momma said at 3:22 pm on March 12th, 2011:

I think Mika is a good name, it’s easy to call, and you can always call him mike for short. (paz is too close to spaz)

  21. 21 tasha h said at 3:26 pm on March 12th, 2011:

Paz is perfect, for the meaning and it sounds great as a name (pronounced in a spanish type of way, like “poz” or “paws,” I can’t spell it exactly the same way I’m saying it in my head). Pause? yeah, sure, that one is BY FAR the best name cause it matches his color too.

i like rusty but you should let him pick his name write them all on a piece of paper and whatever he goes to first then that’s it.

I have a beautiful golden-red boxer/terrier mix and he came with the name ‘Hurricane’. He was a rescue from Hurricane Katrina, and it fits him perfectly. His behavior is also like that of a hurricane at times; he has lots of energy and definately commands attention. When I get a pet it helps me to watch it for a few days and pick a name based on personality. My husband recently got me a toy chihuahua and we named him ‘tater’ (like tater-tot). As long as the name ‘fits’ his personality it will be great. Good luck!!

The following names are seen over and over again in dogs -
MAX, Bronco, Mike, Sam, and Henry. That’s not to say they are bad names – they’re popular because people like them.
I like Paz or even Pax (peace) or Oro (gold). But I also like “Sam Henry”. And Mahoney – no reason, just like the name.

    MAX!!!!!
    ITS AN AWESOME DOG NAME!
ACTUALLY WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS BASE THE DOGS NAME ON ITS PERSONALITY. ALSO TRY TO NAME THE DOG WITH THE ENDING SOUND OF E. ITS CATCHING AND SOME HOW APPEALING TO THE DOG.
