he will not stop whining and crying at night…what do i do?

He’s a baby. I’ll bet YOU didn’t sleep through the night when you were a baby, either! He’s in a strange place with strange smells and a strange person and he’s been taken away from his mother and siblings. You’d cry, too…
Crate training will help a great deal. Make sure the crate is in a quiet and draft free place. Introduce the dog to it during the day by coaxing him into the crate and rewarding him – always leaving the door open. After he becomes accustomed to the crate close the door for a few minutes then let him out if he is quiet. Put the crate close to your bed so he can smell you at night. A little time should help him adjust to his “den” and he will come to like it. His first crate should be just large enough for him to stand, turn around and lay down. This will also help in house-breaking him.
try covering his kennel with a blanket or let him sleep where he can see you like next to your bed…
let him sleep with you, hes probably trying to call for his mama
I cannot tolerate a barking whining dog when I am trying to get rest at night. As a last resort I take a puppy to bed with me, assuming he is reasonably clean. They will sleep well, all curled up and warm, and so will you.
crate train him, immediately, cover the crate so he feels safe, make sure he has a stuffed animal at least as large or larger than him, and get a plastic juice or a 2 liter soda bottle, fill it with warm water, wrap it in a towel and put in the crate with him at nite. Make sure he has his own blanket or towel to sleep on in the crate, before putting the blanket in the crate, rub him all over with it so it has his scent on it. This did wonders for my pit when he was a baby.
