What can I use to make my dog stop shredding pee pads?

Posted: February 10th, 2011 | Author: admin | Filed under: Common Questions | Tags: , , | 4 Comments »

My puppy is making me loopy with the pee pads being shredded all over every time he gets a little over excited. I bought some of that bitter apple spray and he actually likes the taste! There was another commercial spray called bitter yuck with a different formula and of course, he liked that too. Goofy dog.

Any ideas for a something else I can use? Preferably something I can use on wires as well. Oh, and he’s signed up for obedience lessons in 2 weeks since he won’t listen to a word a say. I adopted him and he is wild as can be.

I asked this question on another board and I was going crazy looking for an answer. Thank goodness for me, the spray worked.
They have holders that you can purchase at any petco or petsmart for wee wee pads. They are about 25 dollars and if you plan on using the pads for awhile, then they might be a good investment. I don’t know how effective they are though. Do a little research and see.
Oh and I also bought smaller wee wee pads and taped it down with packing tape (don’t know what type of floors you have), then smudged cayenne pepper or sprayed it. That worked a little. All of this is followed of course with a stern “no” when I see him going after the pad. Good Luck…

I had this same problem until yesterday…I brushed the edges with a little tobasco and they do not like the taste of that. I came home and the pads were still in tact.
I hope this helps you… Good Luck!
