The easiest way is crate training. Search online on how to crate train your dog. It really works faster than anything else, and with less messes. You don’t leave the dog in the crate all the time- just when you’re away from home.

This question is ask 10,000,000 times a day. You can find all the answers if you type your question in the green bar at the top of this page where it say, “Search for questions”.

you can try puppie pads / they didnt work to well with me. i would just take the pup out as often as you can be very pleasant and reasuring and say things like “go potty” a lot but only while you are outside. do not yell or spank when the pup makes a mistake in the house it happens. just take it outside right away and say “go potty”

the best way to potty train a dog in my opinion is that u just have to have a lot of time and patience. take her outside every 30 minutes to go to the bathroom. when she goes u praise her. and if u see her sniffing around in the house u take her outside. and when she does it in the house u show it to her and u say NO firmly and u say OUTSIDE firmly and then u put her outside hope this works. it did for me.

i had never used a kennel to train a dog to go potty outside until i got my puppy two years ago. and it did not work. cuz he would be kenneled when we were out and the second we let him out he peed on the floor. it just didnt work. i used the method described above for my older dog and it only took him two days to catch on and he hasnt had an accident since. but it took my younger dog 6 months to learn. but that may just be me. but all i know is that the above method really works well.

best and quickest method, for me at least, is crate training. It works with the dog’s “den mentality”. It seems mean at first, because the puppy will cry to be let out, but after a while the crate will be your dog’s “room” where he/she feels safe.

It is a much faster method than puppy pads or discipline.

After three months, he should be housebroken. If he’s not, something’s wrong and he’s not been properly trained.

From what I’ve been hearing, the easiest way to house break a dog is “crate training.”

With crate training, you purchase your dog a crate large enough for him to stand in and turn around in. Every time you bring him in the house he goes into the crate. When you let him out for excersise, to feed him, etc. you immediately take him outside to the area you want him to poop in. After approximately 7-10 days he should understand that inside is not the place to poop/pee and he should be okay in the house. Supervised at first.

A dog’s instincts tell him not to poop/pee where he lives/sleeps. Therefore, with this new habit, he should figure it out really quickly.

This is the BASICS of crate training. For more info, look it up online or ask your vet.

we taught my dog to ring a bell when she has to go to the bathroom. hang a bell on the door that he or she usually goes out. at first when you take the dog out, ring the bell beforehand. after the dog goes to the bathroom outside, praise him, and give him a treat. if you keep it up, when the dog needs to relieve himself, he will ring the bell and you will know to take him out.

Labs are great dogs and easy to train. Here is an easy way to House-Train:

Don’t use ammonia to clean up mistakes, because it smells like urine to the dog. Use vinegar or the special pet stain cleaners, instead.

    1. Watch him very carefully when you are home and take him outside after he drinks, eats, or sniffs around. Keep him outside for 5 minutes, then come back in…. but keep careful watch. Always take him to the exact same spot outside for his toilet, and clean up solid waste every few days.

    2. When you can’t watch him, put him in a crate. Don’t keep him in the crate all the time. You want to try to let him out about every four hours, but he is old enough that she can handle 4 – 5 hours, if you are diligent in walking him before and after meals, and before and after leaving for work/school.

    3. If you don’t use a crate, then confine him in a room, like the bathroom or kitchen that you can cover with newspaper.

    4. Put food, water, toys, and bedding in one corner. When you come back after a few hours, take him outside for a walk. Then clean up soiled newspaper, clean the floor underneath with vinegar, and save a small piece for the smell. Place some clean newspaper in another corner of the room, away from her food, and place the smelly piece of newspaper in the corner. Keep newspaper on the rest of the floor.

    5. The next day he should have tried to go to the bathroom close to the smelly corner. Repeat the process from above, clean the floor, use new paper, place a new smelly piece of paper in the corner opposite his food.

You are trying to teach him where her toilet is by placing a large blinking sign that says bathroom. Since your dog can’t read, you are using a small piece of paper for the same purpose. Your dog has a good sense of smell, so the smelly paper doesn’t have to be very large or disgusting. Just a few inches.

    6. Keep doing this for a few days, until your dog goes to the bathroom consistently in the same 5′ x 5′ area. If you are patient and loving, and if she is not too damaged, then he may learn to go in an area less than 2′ x 2′ in less than 4 days, but don’t push it.

    7. If things are on track after 5 or 6 days, then remove all of the paper, except a 5′ x 5′ area in the corner, with a small smelly piece of paper.

    8. Advanced: If he is relaxing, then you might slowly reduce the area to about 1′ x 1′, then you can train him to use a kitty litter box inside… but that may be pushing things.

    9. When he is consistent, then remove all the paper, and move the smelly piece of paper to the outside to show him where his bathroom is. He may have a few accidents, so try to understand what happened and why she had the accident.
But this method should work for most puppies and dogs.

    10. Things to remember:
    A. You can remove the paper when you are home and watching him. You only need the paper during the training period of about two weeks, and only when no one is home to watch him, while he is confined in the kitchen/bathroom.
    B. Always clean up the floor under any mess or mistake with lots of vinegar to remove the smell.
    C. Remember that the smell to a dog is like a blinking sign to people.
    D. Always get rid of soiled newspaper, except for a tiny peice with smell. Replace the soiled newspaper with clean newspaper for the first few days.

Also, walk him, pet him, and talk to him softly… so that he will learn the that he has a loving home.
