When will my dog stop barking at my new kitten?

Posted: April 19th, 2011 | Author: admin | Filed under: Common Questions | Tags: , , | 3 Comments »

They both follow me around and it’s giving me a headache :(
It’s evil barking.

The kitten is a rescue and she does everything perfectly. She was found as a stray and probabaly hasn’t ever been in a house.

I think my dog’s conspiring to get rid of the cat.

She keeps making me open the back door and then not going outside, so the cat escapes and gets lost.

Hmm.

I got a new kitten 3 months ago and now her and my dog have an excellent bond and hate to be apart, but the first 2months were torture, first the dog was scared of the cat then the other way round then they wouldn’t go near each other…they’ll get used to each other on their own terms, just make sure you supervise and don’t let them hurt each other, if your dog keeps barking it may be worth teaching him/her a quiet command.

The dog wants an attention from the kitten.
    He/she?..wants to play, interact.
The kitty is ignoring him and the dog gets frustrated.
Maybe, when the kitty gets a bit bigger, they will start playing and you won´t have to buy Advil all the time. :)
    Edit:
Aww..well, it was the dog´s territory up till now.
Give them a time please. She is telling you, the kitty does not belong there (i think)
They will get along fine, once the dog accepts the new ´´intruder´´.

Try letting your kitten give a move that will respond to your dog in a nice manner where in they will have a good time, if they respond correctly and the dog stops barking then your problem’s gone.

    Good Luck, Hope this helps.
