I have a border collie and when i bought one the general advice was to have a 9ft fence around the garden which i though was rediculous at the time so i disregarded it.
I saw someone else with a border collie and they had a 6 ft mesh fence and it looked horrible!
I have a 3ft wall around my house and my dog will at most stand up against it, but never even attempted to scale it even with people and dogs on the other side (which he loves) and i’m fairly sure that he could easily if he tried.
Anyway, he’s getting to the age to start agility but i am scared that he is going to realise that he can jump and climb and once he realises that, that i won’t be able to let him out into the garden.

I’m wanting to start my puppy, Dixie, with some pre-agility training. I live in Dallas and I’ve seen some facilities online in the Dallas area that I’m considering. But I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about some good (or warnings about some not-so-good) places to do dog agility in the Dallas area.
This video is day 2 of weave pole training for agility. On day one I got reggie familiar with my target stick using a clicker and high value treats. then i got him to follow it. then i got him to follow it through weave poles that were NOT upright but rather bent out to make his path more clear to understand. I did this for 3min sessions 5 times the first day. Day two consisted of review with the target stick. clicking and rewarding at the end if he completed all 6 poles correctly. I have not worked both sides yet. I find for him it confuses him so i’m working one side until he gets it down then i will up the training to working all sides. By session 3 on day two he no longer needed to follow a target stick. he is now weaving on his own. i’m still using a clicker. he is about 60% accurate at this point in training. He is already getting faster as well. note in the video his second run through was his best performance. he is getting the hang of it.
