Of course it would be a little different, but would it be okay? I babysit for my aunts and uncles, so I usually have 6-8 kids with me at a time, ages from 2 to 10.

Training a dog is a necessary aspect of the human-animal bond. However, the degree to which a person trains a dog can vary from owner to owner. Many owners choose to train their pooches at home, while others seek professional guidance. For those seeking professional guidance, here are a few tips to help you choose an appropriate training program. Figuring out how you want your dog to be trained is the first step in choosing a program. From that point, you can narrow down your options. Once the first session is complete, then you can decide to continue with additional training or to keep things as they are.
Before you even begin to search for training programs, you should decide what exactly you want to teach your pooch. If you brought home a new puppy, then obedience training may be your first need. Even an adult dog can benefit from obedience training. Perhaps, you are looking for an activity to get you and your pooch outdoors. In this case, you may want to find an agility training program or one that specializes in canine sports, such as flyball. Or, maybe you want to find a training program to teach your dog the basics of hunting, police work, or how to be a service dog. There are all types of training programs out there to fit your needs. Sort through all the different options, and decide which is best for your pet.
Let’s assume that you want to start with obedience training; completing an obedience training course is beneficial for dogs and owners. Now that you have decided on obedience, do you think you will want your pet to complete another course after he has finished this one? You may not have that answer –which is perfectly fine- but, if you do, then the answer can make a difference on where you choose to complete an obedience course. For instance, if after the completion of the obedience course, you wish to enroll your pooch in an agility training course, then it would be beneficial to seek out an obedience course at an agility training facility. By participating in an obedience course at an agility facility, you pet will be introduced to hand signals and commands that are also used in agility training. Therefore, the transition into the agility course will be much easier and possibly more productive. If you choose to have the obedience course completed elsewhere, then the commands and hand signals may contradict those used in agility. Using an agility facility for obedience training is not necessary, but it can be beneficial.
Once you have laid out a training course for you pooch, then you can decide what facility you would like to use in the training. As with anything, seek out references and advice from others. Narrow down your options, and then plan a visit to each place. Many facilities may allow you to sit in on a training session. This will give you the opportunity to evaluate the atmosphere (deciding whether or not it’s a good fit for you and your pooch). You may also have the opportunity to ask questions of the participants. Ask the facility to provide any information regarding awards or success stories. Depending on what level of competition you would like your dog to compete on, you may want to choose a well established facility over one that was recently opened.
If you don’t want your pet to learn the art of a certain trade, then check with local animal shelters on basic obedience courses. Animal shelters and similar animal organizations often offer these courses for a discounted price. If you later decide to enroll your dog in a specialized training course, then you can seek out an appropriate provider.
If you have decided to enroll your pet in a professional training course, then you may be overwhelmed with all your options. To start, figure out what exactly you want your pet to learn. Once you have that mapped out, seek out a facility that meets your needs. If all else fails, you can enroll your pet in a basic obedience course, and then decide on a specialized course later.
