Can I have a small dog, like basset or cocker spaniel, be trained to become a drug sniffer?

I do some searches (with search warrant, of course) and never had K-9 in my department. I am interested if I could have toy dogs trained to do the job because they’re easy to take to the crime scene and need not much exercise and low-cost maintenance
Not a cop. In my place, a third world country, we do what cops do…. and do it with less or no equipment at all. That dog would happen to be my own pet. And the cost for its training would come out of my pocket.
Am the equivalent of the feds in your place…and assigned in the anti-terror division…. and pay for the gas if I have to use my unit’s vehicle. We’re a pathetic bunch. But we try to do what we can
Additional details given were meant for DP. Still I would need opinions from others. Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate all (almost all of them)

How different is raising a small (toy) breed from raising an regular average size dog?

Thinking of taking in a rescued yorkie (we think she’s “teacup” but we haven’t met her yet, we just got a call from the rescue…) but have no experience with toy breeds. We have a 30 lb (rescued, of course) fairly well trained, lab mix – is raising/training such a small dog going to be very different? Any links or resource suggestions?

My dog only barks at small children?

He’s 6 months, 6 days old and neutered. He weighs about 50 lbs and is the sweetest, most submissive dog to anything he meets be it old people or ferrets. He has a big issue with submissively peeing, but i’m hoping, like my border collie, he’ll grow out of it. I take him to the park every weekend as i’ve been doing since he was 8 weeks old. He is very nice, responds good to the movements and squealing of kids and other dogs around him. He used to be TERRIFIED of anyone who even looked at him. But he is past that now after heavy socialization. Now at about 17 weeks old he began barking at any small child (3 and under) who approached him slowly. I’m sure he can sense fear because he is so big I bet those kids are scared of him. But he will just go to the end of his leash and bark at them, nothing else, no snarls, hackles raised or growling. Of course the kid freaks and heads off. I will not hit my dog but don’t know what to do. He is very sweet and I’m giving him obedience training. just don’t know how to fix this behavior problem. If he needs to be around more small children how do i introduce them when he’s barking all the time? i do the strangers feeding him thing but he barks at little kids even when they try to feed him. Help!
