How do you stop dogs barking?

My dog is 2 and a half and won’t stop barking! We’ve tried for A G E S and he’s unstoppable!
Many people recommend bark collars. Done that with expensive and cheap collars, it doesn’t work. Others recommend lightly taping him on the nose when he’s inside but he tries to bite me. When he’s outside, he doesn’t do recall, he has “selective hearing.” He also barks an awful lot at the cats and chases them.

Anyone got any ideas on stopping his barking that doesn’t include expensive bark collars?

Thanks in advance

When will my dog stop barking at my new kitten?

Posted: April 19th, 2011 | Author: admin | Filed under: Common Questions | Tags: , , | 3 Comments »

They both follow me around and it’s giving me a headache :(
It’s evil barking.

The kitten is a rescue and she does everything perfectly. She was found as a stray and probabaly hasn’t ever been in a house.

I think my dog’s conspiring to get rid of the cat.

She keeps making me open the back door and then not going outside, so the cat escapes and gets lost.

Hmm.

How do I stop my dog from chewing on the front door?

Posted: April 17th, 2011 | Author: admin | Filed under: Common Questions | Tags: , , , , | 7 Comments »

We just got a 7 year old dog fully housebroken, trained, etc. He has just begun to scratch and bite at the front door while we’re gone. Presumably this is to get the the dog in the condo across from us. When we are home, he doesn’t do it or react to the dog’s barking really at all. Is there a spray or should we put up a gate? Anything anyone’s tried?

I’ll try and make this short.1 yr. old aussie mix,he is a great dog love him to death. We started to crate him when we’re not home because he would chew up the house and make a huge mess, toys did not work for him. We have come to find out from our neihbors that he is barking when we leave and pretty much barks the whole time we are gone. The longest he has been in his crate is about 6hrs. I need some ideas to get him to stop before it becomes a real big problem.I am looking for a inexpensive and a fast resolve to this so any ideas will help. Thanks everyone!!!!
